We all know that time is limited, and this limitation impacts various purposes that require our attention. For this reason, we must make the most of the time allocated for any given task. The scriptures remind us: “There is a season, and a time to every purpose under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).
However, we sometimes face the challenge of insufficient time for a particular purpose—a situation where our time is running out. When time is running out, it means we lack the necessary time to complete a specific task. Insufficient time can affect us at work, in business, or even at home. Regardless of how disciplined we are with our schedules, circumstances beyond our control can occasionally lead to a shortage of time.
So, how should we compose ourselves in these situations? How do we manage the lack of sufficient time to complete a required task?
THE PLACE OF CALMNESS
Calmness is a state of not being agitated. When faced with a time constraint, we have two choices: we can either proceed with our task despite the pressure or decide not to do it due to the lack of time. We might waste valuable time worrying about the situation, or we can calm ourselves and get on with the task at hand.
CALMNESS AND ITS FUNCTIONS
Calmness serves two important functions: perfection and completion.
Perfection: This is the state of being faultless or excellent in your assigned task. Perfection can be achieved by maintaining calmness even when you don’t have enough time. Conversely, worry and agitation often lead to mistakes, especially when time is insufficient.
Completion: This is about finishing or accomplishing an assigned task. It involves not being distracted by worry or agitation due to time constraints. Our goal should be to finish the task regardless of the time limitations. By focusing all our energy on completing the task, we increase the likelihood of success. We often see people completing their tasks before the deadline, and this can also be achieved when time is running out. The key commonality between someone who finishes early and someone who finishes despite a time crunch is focus. By concentrating all your energy on the task, you can achieve your goal, provided you remain calm.
In conclusion, the fact that time is running out does not mean our tasks cannot be accomplished. Instead, we should embrace calmness and its benefits to ensure our tasks are completed successfully.
